brunch.jpg

My friend Mary Kate owns and operates the most awesome bruncherie in town. Lucky for us Ida Mae’s is right here in Fishtown. She has graciously decided to dish up some great food for the purpose of helping our family get through this tough time.

On Sunday September 9th 2007 from 7am until 3pm Ida Mae’s will give 10% of their meal sales to us. So we need you to plan on making a date out of it. Ida Mae’s is located at 2302 Norris Street (the corner of Norris and Tulip) 215-426-4209. The website is idamaesbruncherie.com

The menu is awesome. Mary Kate uses all fresh local ingredients. The menu is super with really good prices. Mary Kate and her crew dish up amazing specials. I think she is planning on doing some special specials for the day.

( A note from Mary Kate….We’re gonna make raspberry booby cakes (Booby cakes – I luv it), as long as we can get organic raspberries in Sept. And I think we’re gonna do something with Sunny side up eggs! Maybe with a tomato in the center???? We’re working on all things pink and booby for that date. All our love MK )

And if you miss silk city’s chocolate bread pudding Ida Mae’s has resurrected it from the dead. And speaking of Silk…Our lovely server Joey( of Silk) has made a home for himself at Ida Mae’s as well. Great food, great service, at a great price. You can’t beat Ida Mae’s.

Sadly,I will be in California seeing about my rexin -g study. However, Kelly will be on hand selling Tshirts. My family will be there to give you their thanks. And we will be in need of people who might be willing to some entertaining for the crowds for 9am until about noon. So if you juggle, do balloon animals, play guitar, walk on stilts, tell jokes, etc and can donate an hour of your time please let me know.

I really want this to be a fun and fabulous thing for everyone. That would make me really happy. So if you have not been able to come to other events now is your chance. And if you have so what..roll out of bed in your sweats and come eat. No one cares its Fishtown we love you. Andrea

Thank you to Amanda ( who organized), Katie( who showed her boobies 2X), Lindsay from Chic Petique( who looks great!) and the M room people for the second fundraiser. It also went very well with awesome bands and a supportive crowd. I did not know everyone who came out but it was nice to see a few familiar faces. The love and support we continue to receive is really beautiful.

Several other fundraisers are in the works that I think could be really fun. Kelly and I will continue to come out and sell shirts at these events. And its a great to see everyone when I am feeling good. I can’t say too much more because nothing is finalized but I think you all will be happy to come out and join us. We are so thankful for you all. I am blessed to have such loving fiends.

And thank you sooooooooooo much to everyone that has been generous in supporting my friend Shayna’s breast cancer 3 day walk. You are all so great. It is a wonderful thing to donate for this cause. All proceeds go to the Susan Komen foundation for breast cancer research. Give til it hurts,Shayna will be!

party-like-a-rock-star.jpg

Amy called it a punk rock high school reunion. The benefit tonight at the M room went off without a hitch.Everywhere you looked there was someone you knew and loved. It was amazing and a bit overwhelming for me because I wanted to talk to and hug EVERYONE. I was so impressed by all the time and effort that people put into the planning of such a fun event. ( Becky, Rob, Jen,and Dave) And it could be the cranberry juice talking but you all are quite an attractive group. The bands were so good. I heard that Joey Jap and the Hot Wired Hearts did an amazing cover of I wanna be your dog. And the Purple Generals cover of Stairway to Heaven was super fun. People won some kick ass prizes. Thanks to North 3rd, Silk City, Sourpuss clothing, American Mortals Salon, The Bean Cafe, Tattooed Mom’s, Kim Montenegro, the Red Hook Cafe, Crash Bang Boom,Trinity Framing, and many others.I am really thankful to all of you for coming out and supporting my family during this time. We are so lucky to have such amazing folks in our life. I was really happy to get to spend some time with you all. The T shirts will still be for sale to anyone who is interested. Just send me an email with the quantity , size, and shipping address. They are $20 each. Please keep reading the blog and commenting. It makes me feel connected to you all even when we don’t see each other. I LOVE YOU ALL ! KISSES! Some of you may have had a few too many and maybe forgot all the promises you made to me about taking my kids places or taking me out for a few dates. I will be collecting on those soon. Have a great day! Andrea

P.S. For those of you who could not make it or were out of town you have another chance to have fun for a good cause. Our dear friend Amanda planned the Stay  Strong Live Wrong night next Saturday July 27th also at the M room on Girard Ave. I will get the list of bands at the next post. I know you are like, “another benefit?”.  Well, we did not organize them so people were not aware of the each others plans. I hope you can come out if you did not make it tonight. T shirts will be on sale there as well as prizes, drink specials, and music.

The walk of life

A note from Shayna

Some of you may know that i am training to walk The 3day. This is a 60 mile walk for breast cancer. I am walking in Andrea’s honor and also in celebration that my mother has been cancer free for two years. ( yahoo! ) Breast cancer is a scary disease, its terrifying really, to me. Andrea is a tough chick- but for me it wakes me up at night. To be in the race I have to raise at least 2200 dollars and I am about 1/4 of the way there! If you can donate even 5 dollars please do- its such a good cause. You can give the money to Andrea, Kelly or me or go to my website- http://www.the3day.org/philadelphia07/shayna My faith is in God and also that research it coming along and making improvements and that one day we will look back on this mess and just shutter at the thought. So, I have started walking alot- I walk several miles most days. During some of the longest walks, my legs feel like they are going to fall of- but when I can get past that, the walks are a time for meditation for me. I try to concentrate positive feelings towards her, towards Andrea and her healing. It sounds wishful, and it might be. but I feel closer to her and closer to God THe walking has been good for me too- Yesterday, I was walking a 7 mile and I saw a really big turtle near Cooper River. He was like the size of a dinner plate! His foot was stuck in a hole and he needed a hand- Actually i used a stick because he was a little menacing as turtles go- I took his picture, named him Mr. Turtle, and was on my way. But the rather blatant analogy was not lost on me. We all need each other. Andrea needs us now. Someday sooner or later we will need someone else. We are not kingdoms unto ourselves. We are completely interconnected, utterly helpless alone- someone once said that we are an accumulation of the gifts others have given us. I think that is the truest thing I have ever heard. with love, Shayna

Hey good looking

I don’t know if you’re busy on Sunday. Maybe you have plans. But if you have a free moment I would really like to spend a little special time with you. A date perhaps. Just reminding you all that Sunday night at 6pm is the M Room fundraiser. We will be selling the eagle shirts and there will be 8 awesome bands! I know there are also several really cool prizes and raffles. I will try to be there from 5 to 7ish. I have to get home to the baby. And actually I have been feeling pretty sick so I will be praying for a good day. In any case please get a babysitter or schedule out of work whatever you need to get there..we really hope to see you…big boy.

I double dog dare ya to match me

Friday, July 13th, 2007

Our friend Shayna is walking in a 3 day 60 mile breast cancer walk in Andreas honor. I read about this only tonight. She either starts tonight or tomorrow morning. I also notice that she could use a little sponsorship. Now we don’t have much right now, but I can do $20 without really feeling it too much and it is a cause very close to my heart. If you are in the same boat as me (broke but hey whats $20), then I double dog dare you to go to http://www.the3day.org/philadelphia07/shayna and match me, tonight, while she’s still walking, I just did it, it felt great.

Kelly

Thank you so much!!!! I was so excited to see the donations- This is going to be fun! I start training tonight but the walk is not for 3 months. In that time I have to raise 2200 dollars so, I need ALL the help I can get! And I have to get in shape enough to walk 60 miles! (prayers welcome)

I love you guys- Shayna

So the walk is in 3 months. That gives anyone interested in helping support Shayna in this cancer marathon plenty of time. She asked if anyone wanted to join in with her and you all could be team Andrea. Or if you are lazy and generous you can donate instead. Thanks for recognizing the importance of walking/fighting/finding a cure for the beast of the breast. Love Andrea

Thank you for your support

The benefit at the Manhattan Room (15 W. Girard) is coming up on Sunday July, 2007. Please plan on coming out. Becky Vomit and some other kind folk have worked really hard to put together a fun evening out with a cause. Last count was eight bands and lots of cool events. The eagle T shirts will be done by then. And apparently there are some really cool prizes as well. I will do my best to be there too. Kelly will be there to thank you all for your love and kindness. Vinnie will be behind the bar serving up some special pink drinks in my honor. If you need to schedule a night off of work make it happen. I hope you all can make it out. As always I am touched by your thoughtfulness and generosity. Please come out on the 22nd and have a good time. Andrea

OK. No one other than Leah commented here. So I want to know if you are planning on coming out. So leave a yes comment if you are gonna go. I will be there from 5 to 7pm. I don’t think I can do a late night thing. And how awesome is this poster?

Fly like an eagle

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

This illness business is tricky. I need help…I ask for help…I get help…I feel blessed and guilty for needing it. I really am so lucky to have such amazing people around me and being so incredibly supportive. Thank you to those who have gotten stars..or who are planning to. Thank you to Becky Vomit, Dave Glass, Jenny Balls, Amanda & Vinny, and everyone who is planning or participating in a benefit for my family. You are all so wonderful. More information about the benefits will be coming soon.

In the mean time Kelly, my loving husband and artist, has designed a cool T shirt that will be for sale at all the benefits. This is the first in a series ( collect them all) that we will have available. Other artists have come up with designs so you will see other ones soon. I am really in love with this one. It has my pink nautical star on it! And our dear friend Orion is putting together some other cool things for those in attendance. It’s a secret. If you didn’t want a tattoo a T is always nice. You know you have 100 black t shirts in your drawer..so what’s one more…and it is really cool. Right now I can’t ship them.  But there are a few of you out- of -staters that I will do my best to get these too. You know who you are!

I am amazed daily by God’s goodness. Thank you everyone who reads this and actually cares what is happening to me and my children and my husband. It is hard to go through all this with the support…I can not imagine what would happen if I didn’t.fly-like-an-eagle.jpg
